Bianca Diaz finds beauty in discomfort. A student at UMass Lowell studying marketing and international business, she isn’t intimidated by age or time. Multi-tasking has been her secret ingredient in navigating an entrepreneurial life.

A firm believer that people should take risks—because stepping out of your comfort zone leads to personal growth and new opportunities—Bianca embraces uncertainty and adapts to a world filled with creativity. She refuses to be confined to one specific box.

Her lip gloss line, Pure Pout Cosmetics, was born out of a period of stagnation, when she felt a lack of excitement and creative energy despite studying and working full-time as a dental assistant. She continued experimenting until she reached a point where she could fully dedicate herself to a single pursuit. That’s when she unexpectedly fell in love with marketing and content creation—leading her to launch Diaz Solutions. There, she recognized the need for accessible and affordable advertising for small businesses and fellow entrepreneurs.

“I’m absolutely obsessed with Melanie Perkins’ journey and resilience. Canva was pitched over 100 times and kept hearing ‘no,’ but rejection didn’t stop her. Instead, she refined her idea, kept pushing forward, and believed in herself when others didn’t. Today, it’s one of the most widely used design platforms in the world—proving that persistence and self-belief can turn a concept into a global success. Her story is a great reminder that setbacks aren’t failures.”

If Bianca could share one piece of advice with another woman dreaming of starting her own business, it would be this: don’t overthink every detail or wait until everything is perfect—because it doesn’t have to be.

The path to success is full of learning moments, and sometimes those early, awkward steps are exactly what shape you into the business owner you’re meant to become. There may be times when you look back and downplay your first ideas or creations, but those moments are part of your growth. Embrace the messy beginning, the trial and error, and know that every uneasy moment brings you closer to your vision.

The only way to grow is by starting—even if it means stepping a little out of your comfort zone. Believe in yourself, trust your journey, and remember that every successful business had a humble beginning.

Never pivot and quit when things don’t go as planned.
